My client, a well known clean energy PE fund, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Origination & Power Marketing to lead commercial strategy and execution for both the Fund and its portfolio of Independent Power Producer (IPP) companies.
This role is critical in leading commercial strategy, including market entry, power fundamentals, and origination/execution of offtake agreements for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
The position will lead sourcing and structuring power purchase agreements (PPAs), offtake arrangements, and revenue contracts across a broad range of clean energy assets, including utility-scale solar, wind, storage, and emerging technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead origination activity with a focus on building bilateral relationships with utilities, corporates, and industrial companies across all US power markets and zones.
Identify, originate, analyze, and structure opportunities in the US energy markets for all types of offtake agreements. Maintain and develop close relationships with regional counterparties.
Develop and execute comprehensive power marketing strategies to optimize revenue potential of solar, wind, battery storage, and hybrid assets.
Negotiate and secure financeable PPAs and other offtake agreements, ensuring favorable terms aligned with company goals and financial targets.
Address, assess, and negotiate risk mitigation strategies related to offtake agreements, considering transmission analysis and other factors.
Collaborate with development, finance, and operations teams to align efforts with overall company strategy and project timelines, ensuring technical and operational feasibility.
Lead the commercialization of other products or byproducts generated by the portfolio (e.g., iRECs).
Support sizing and design of hybrid projects from a power markets and regulation perspective.
Define pricing strategies and participate in capacity payment auctions and other revenue sources.
Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and market developments.
Create sales materials, proposals, and respond to RFPs.
Create and deliver presentations to potential and existing power purchasers.
Provide regular updates on strategy and progress.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
5+ years of negotiating and closing PPAs and energy contracts.
At least 7+ years of experience in the US renewable energy sector with a leading investor, developer, or IPP.
Experience in high-growth or startup environments.
Deep network of contacts in the corporate/utility industry and brokers across the US.
Experience with RFPs for energy offtake arrangements.
Deep understanding of energy markets, pricing mechanisms, and regulations.
Knowledge of wholesale power markets and products.
Familiarity with project economics and financing, including tax and accounting aspects.
