Renewable Energy - Solar Tracker
Job Summary:
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Vice President of Engineering to lead and elevate our global engineering function, with a primary focus on advancing our industry-leading solar tracker systems. This critical succession opportunity is intended to groom a future executive-level leader, offering significant influence over our innovation roadmap and strategic growth initiatives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving technical excellence, product innovation, and organizational leadership, ensuring our solutions remain at the forefront of the renewable energy sector.
Key Job Responsibilities:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive engineering strategy aligned with corporate goals and market demands, with a strong emphasis on innovation, scalability, and competitive differentiation.
• Product Development & Innovation: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of solar tracker system development, from concept and prototyping through design, testing, certification, and full-scale deployment.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to ensure product solutions align with customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and go-to-market strategies.
• Engineering Culture & Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering team across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
• Vision Communication: Clearly articulate the engineering strategy and innovation roadmap to your team of approx. 10 direct reports, ensuring everyone understands the goals and their role in achieving them.
• Goal Alignment: Align individual and team goals with corporate objectives to foster a sense of purpose and direction.
• Empower Creativity: Encourage your team to think creatively and take calculated risks in product development.
• Resource Allocation: Ensure your team has the necessary resources and support to innovate effectively.
• Integrated Teams: Create cross-functional teams to work on specific projects, enhancing synergy and efficiency.
• Mentorship Programs: Implement mentorship programs to guide and develop junior engineers.
• Continuous Learning: Foster a culture of continuous learning by providing access to training and development opportunities.
• Project & Portfolio Management: Drive execution across a complex portfolio of engineering programs, ensuring milestone achievement, budget control, resource optimization, and quality standards.
• Technology Integration: Guide the integration of advanced technologies, including control systems, data analytics, and automation, to enhance product intelligence, adaptability, and field performance.
• Voice of Customer: Engage directly with strategic customers and channel partners to capture feedback, validate product requirements, and co-develop solutions that exceed expectations.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols, while maintaining a focus on reliability and field-proven performance.
• Succession Planning & Organizational Growth: Actively participate in leadership development planning, serving as a key player in shaping the future of our technology and engineering organization.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or a related discipline required; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years in progressive engineering leadership roles, with a demonstrated history of success in renewable energy, solar technology, industrial automation, or related sectors.
• Domain Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of solar tracking systems, mechatronic design, hardware/software integration, and field-deployable energy infrastructure.
• Leadership & Team Building: Proven ability to lead global, cross-functional teams with a focus on innovation, agility, and execution.
• Program Management: Experience managing large-scale engineering programs with significant technical complexity and strategic impact.
• Customer Orientation: Strong capability in engaging with customers, understanding market trends, and translating voice-of-customer into differentiated technical solutions.
• Business Acumen: Financial and operational fluency, with the ability to balance technical rigor and business priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of influencing and aligning stakeholders across technical and non-technical functions.
