We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Low Carbon Engineering and Construction to lead and oversee the execution of carbon capture and renewable energy generation projects. This role will focus on managing the construction, installation, and commissioning of carbon capture facilities, as well as ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of projects. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leading large-scale carbon capture projects, combined cycle energy systems, and successfully managing cross-functional teams.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Construction, and plays a key role in shaping the company's approach to engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for low-carbon energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams for the execution of carbon capture and low-carbon energy projects.
• Oversee the design, installation, commissioning, and testing phases of carbon capture systems integrated into power generation plants.
• Lead or support procurement processes for major equipment related to carbon capture technologies, including contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Manage construction budgets, schedules, and financial forecasts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
• Develop and standardize project management workflows, processes, and procedures specifically focused on carbon capture and low-carbon technologies to ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery.
• Engage in contract negotiations, safety training, incident investigations, and project assessments related to carbon capture systems and renewable energy facilities.
• Ensure that carbon capture projects meet all regulatory and environmental compliance requirements, while targeting zero safety incidents and minimizing environmental impact.
• Provide regular updates on project progress to senior management, escalating any issues that could impact project completion or performance.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing teams with a focus on building expertise in carbon capture technologies and renewable energy projects.
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of experience in carbon capture, engineering, and renewable construction, with specific experience in leading combined cycle and carbon capture projects.
• Proven leadership experience in a senior role within an Independent Power Producer (IPP), EPC contractor, or power generation company.
• Strong track record of managing complex projects in carbon capture and low-carbon energy sectors, with experience in overseeing the construction of energy systems that include carbon capture technologies.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Results-driven, with experience working under tight schedules and budgets in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Expertise in negotiating contracts, managing carbon capture technology specifications, and understanding key construction and procurement requirements for low-carbon projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Professional demeanor with a strong commitment to the company's core values, including sustainability, safety, and environmental responsibility.
• Willingness to travel as needed for project oversight and collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or additional certifications in carbon capture technology is preferred.
• Must pass a pre-employment background and financial credit check.
