Job Description

Bell Bank is seeking a VP/Client Portfolio Manager in Fargo, ND, responsible for implementing investment strategies within the Wealth Management Division. Key duties include managing client portfolios, conducting economic analysis, and providing investment reporting. The role involves regular client interactions, portfolio strategy alignment, and collaboration with internal teams. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience.
This position is accountable for implementation of investment strategies for Bell Bank's Wealth Management Division. Working with members of the Bell Wealth Management Department and Bell Institutional Investment Management Department, this position implements overall investment strategy, provides economic analysis and client investment reporting.

Responsibilities

Client Portfolio Management
• Manage a defined client portfolio and serve as the primary investment contact.
• Meet regularly with clients to review portfolio performance, risk profile, goals, and recommended adjustments.
• Provide ongoing communication regarding market conditions, economic outlook, and portfolio positioning.
• Present investment process, strategy, and performance to both existing clients and prospects.
• Conduct annual fiduciary client portfolio reviews.
• Prepare and deliver customized portfolio reports for clients and committees.
• Provide consistent, proactive communication on portfolio performance, risk, and market environment.
• Assist clients with understanding Bell's investment philosophy and strategy implementation.

Portfolio Strategy & Implementation
• Align client portfolio allocations with approved Bell Bank investment strategies.
• Evaluate purchase and sale opportunities and recommend rebalancing when appropriate.
• Understand how economic conditions impact client portfolios and communicate implications to clients.
• Coordinate with internal portfolio managers, traders, and researchers to implement investment decisions.
• Maintain accurate records of analysis, portfolio changes, and rationale.

Investment & Economic Analysis
• Analyze financial statements, securities, and market data to support portfolio and allocation decisions.
• Monitor economic indicators, industry sector performance, market events, and other developments that may affect client portfolios.
• Conduct peer and benchmark analysis to evaluate the competitiveness and performance of portfolio strategies.
• Work closely with the internal investment strategy team (research, trading, strategy management).

Marketing & Business Development Support
• Participate in new business opportunities by presenting investment capabilities to prospects.
• Collaborate with marketing to develop investment-related content, data, and materials.
• Serve as a subject‑matter resource during client onboarding and transition processes.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or similar; or equivalent experience.
• 4 – 6 years of experience managing investment portfolios or working in a wealth or investment advisory environment.
• CFP designation (or in the process of obtaining designation) is preferable. CFA or CPA designation will also be considered

Skills and Knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of investment portfolio theory and practice.
• Knowledge of fixed income and equity securities and trading practices.
• Thorough understanding of statistics and quantitative analysis.
• Knowledge of economic theory and practice.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software and financial information systems.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to think and work independently in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate complex topics professionally.
