• This position will be based in Birmingham, AL (4 days in office)
• Relocation assistance will be considered

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for providing project management leadership and technical support in the planning, scheduling, development, and contracting of Utility Scale Solar power plants for the Retail Electric Operating companies of Southern Company. Additionally, this role will be responsible for supporting the identification and analysis of new renewable energy sites to be submitted into the company's RFP process.
• Supporting role for the planning, siting, evaluation, and execution of utility-scale solar projects for the Operating Companies of Southern Company.
• Provides technical, financial, and project development coordination support from early-stage evaluation through implementation handoff, working closely with multiple cross-functional internal and external stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support development of utility-scale solar projects from evaluation to Implementation.
• Contribute to due diligence, business case development, contract negotiations, financial model, and economic and risk analyses.
• Coordinate across engineering, environmental, permitting, land acquisition, transmission, finance, procurement, and external partners.
• Track multiple projects and workstreams with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Support siting and development strategy, contract development, and vendor selection and coordination.
• Prepare clear analyses, materials, and updates for project teams and leadership.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, business, economics or finance preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in renewable generation project development, project analysis, power generation, power distribution, or utility-scale power projects is a plus.
• Experience with EPC support, contract negotiations, asset acquisitions, or regional power markets is a plus.
• Experience in project development, project management and/or leadership, large capital projects, contract development, contract negotiation and contract management/administration is strongly preferred.

• Working knowledge of solar generation, renewable energy economics, and power markets.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work across diverse internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
