Job Description

Senior Urban Planner Role

The Senior Urban Planner will lead the planning and design efforts on various projects, including community master plans, downtown redevelopment plans, TOD studies, and zoning updates. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in urban planning, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Coordinate and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
• Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
• Collaborate with business development staff, project executives, client executives, and market directors/leaders during the initial stages of project opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets.
• Lead and mentor project planners and graduate planners.
• Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements.
• Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals.
• Train, motivate, and lead others.
• Build and maintain client relationships.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:
• Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environment Studies, Urban Studies, Geography, Architecture, or Landscape Architecture or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in urban planning, with a minimum of 8 years preferred.
• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25% with occasional overnight stays.
