About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated Transportation Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our transportation planning team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of urban mobility in our city.

Job Summary

The Transportation Planning Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing transportation plans and policies that promote sustainable and equitable mobility options for all citizens. This includes leading on developing plans and studies, developing project charters, and managing project charter databases.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as project manager for in-house and consultant team-led efforts to produce high-quality transportation plans and policies
• Provide leadership for regional planning initiatives in coordination with agency partners
• Support system planning manager in maintaining the transportation element of the city's general plan
• Develop and review project charters to ensure properly scoped projects align with city plans and policies
• Manage project charter database and oversee project charter approval process
• Assist in identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to advance active transportation projects and programs
• Gather transportation data for analysis, including traffic counts, crash data, parking, technologies, and sustainability considerations
• Support the city's Vision Zero program
• Oversee community engagement plans and activities for planning projects

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of planning experience, or Master's degree in planning or related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of planning experience
• Valid driver's license required

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in the public sector
• Proficient with Planning and related software: ArcGIS Pro/Arc Map, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with transportation/land use modeling (PTV Vissim/Vistro, SYNCHRO), AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
• American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) certification
