The City of Jersey City is seeking an Urban Designer to develop and implement urban design strategies that enhance community living. Develop and implement urban design strategies and policies that align with the city's vision and goals.
Conduct research and analysis of current and future development trends and best practices in urban design.
Collaborate with various stakeholders, including community members, developers, and city officials, to gather input and ensure inclusive and sustainable design solutions.
Create and present design proposals and recommendations to city leadership and decision-makers.
Manage and oversee the design process from concept to implementation, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Utilize GIS and other tools to gather and analyze data and create visual representations of design concepts.
Stay updated on industry advancements and technology to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
Foster partnerships and collaborations with external organizations and agencies to leverage resources and expertise.
Advocate for and promote the importance of urban design and its impact on the community.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior design staff and interns.
Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and standards in the development of design proposals.
Participate in community engagement events and public meetings to gather feedback and address concerns related to design projects.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the city's design standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to ensure coordination and integration of design projects.
Maintain accurate and organized records of design projects and activities.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in urban design.
