As a contract employee, you will have the opportunity to work full-time in our state-of-the-art laboratory in Richmond, California. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in chemistry and a passion for operational excellence. Role Overview Operate complex distillation and process laboratory equipment under the direction of the supervisor/lead technician or operator. Maintain round-the-clock operations of large and small reactors, research units, and distillation columns. Operate at elevated temperatures, high pressures, atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures. Participate in Operational Excellence (OE) individually, on your crew, and as part of the ESU team. Follow work of new experiments and changes to process units to ensure adherence to safe work practices. Provide support in sample handling activities for research and crude assay samples. Meet OE objectives and milestones. Skills & Qualifications Chemistry knowledge and experience. Experience with plant and/or lab operations or mechanical background work. Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of process equipment and/or instrument technology. Familiarity with OE for labs. Experience with ROP (Refinery Operator Training) or attendance at ROP training. Knowledge of chemicals, heavy oil, and distillate research or related materials. Basic knowledge of electrical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong communication skills and commitment to OE in lab and office environments. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues outside of immediate work group. Education & Experience Minimum of a high school diploma/GED required. Associate degree or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trade, or related field preferred. Pay & Benefits Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
