Education Content Developer Full-Time Remote, US

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a global, nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., working to improve environmental sustainability, human health, and resilience in the built environment through its programs and rating systems including LEED. Today, people in over 180 countries and territories live, work, and learn in LEED certified buildings, communities, and cities that protect health, climate, and natural resources, and enhance quality of life.
USGBC is currently seeking an innovative Education Content Developer to create and curate high-quality educational assets to support USGBC/GBCI products. These assets include but are not limited to on-demand modules, presentation slides and scripts, case studies, quizzes, podcasts, and video for online, in-person, and blended learning experiences. The educational materials will support USGBC/GBCI products and programming including LEED, TRUE, SITES, and PERFORM.
The Content Developer will be responsible for producing and maintaining a range of multimedia educational assets that provide customer value, expand learning and thought leadership, strengthen USGBC/GBCI products and services, drive revenue generation, and increase market impact. This includes development, production, delivery, management, and maintenance across all lifecycle phases.
The Content Developer will work with the Director of Education Development to identify the educational needs of and pathways for customers of prioritized USGBC and GBCI products and create and maintain high-quality learning content that supports USGBC product strategies.
The Content Developer will design and develop engaging learning content and materials on green building topics, incorporating e-learning, video, and graphics to captivate a diverse audience. They will also rethink and adapt existing static (pdf/ppt) materials into new learning assets. The Content Developer will apply learning design principles, adult learning theory, and learning sciences evidence to ensure high-quality learning content.
This successful candidate will demonstrate (a) excellent educational content development skills; (b) exceptional ability to manage details, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines; (c) the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; and (d) innovation and creativity to bring education from concept to market.

Specific Responsibilities:
Content Development
Curate existing resources, identify gaps, and coordinate creation of additional assets
Coordinate with SMEs and other content creators to acquire required content
Establish and communicate design and editorial guidelines to maintain the quality and consistency of educational assets
Oversee the editing and proofreading processes to maintain content quality and consistency
Content Delivery
Provide final materials for delivery or hosting on relevant USGBC platforms or additional external platforms
Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop promotional strategies
Maintain and manage inventory of educational resources including scheduled updates
Repurpose content for other educational needs or delivery modalities
Scoping and Project Management
Serve as education liaison to a selection of product management teams
Scope out educational assets based on identified needs and resources
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resources for each asset
Execute project plans to meet time, budget, and resource requirements
Communicate effectively with all stakeholders about scope, timeline, resources, and progress
Effectively convene and facilitate meetings to deliver outcomes
Coordinate contracted external Subject Matter Experts
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and credentials
4-7 years of relevant sustainability education experience
Knowledge of or experience with the LEED Rating Systems or professional experience in sustainability, green building, or equivalent areas
Experience applying instructional and educational best practices to create engaging and effective learning and assessment experiences across multiple delivery modalities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent English writing, editing, and proofreading skills and the ability to effectively communicate related requirements to others
Demonstrated ability to manage all stages (e.g. needs analysis, content development, content production) of educational content projects on time and within budget
Strong organizational, leadership, analytical, time management, and communication skills, including the ability to prioritize, multitask, predict and overcome challenges, and manage multiple competing priorities
Strong initiative, innovation, and ability to conceive and deliver unique solutions to complex problems
Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft 365 collaboration environments (e.g. Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and common Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience in multimedia production including familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent graphic design and video editing software)
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree or recognized certification in Instructional Design or Education
>7 years of relevant sustainability education experience
LEED Green Associate, LEED AP, or relevant credential
Experience with online course development tools such as Articulate e-learning software
Experience with Smartsheet project management software
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint
Multilingual fluency supporting content development in other languages
Working knowledge of accessibility legislation and standards (e.g. WCAG, Section 508) and the ability to apply those to digital content and content presentation systems
Supervision:
Reports to and receives direction from the Director of Education Development
Works closely with education staff, other departments, teams of internal subject matter experts, editors, and other stakeholders
Sources and supervises the activities of external contractors
