OverviewHDR is seeking a Transmission Siting Lead/Environmental Project Manager in Wichita, KS, to oversee transmission line and substation siting efforts and manage environmental projects primarily in Texas and surrounding states. Travel is expected about 30% of the time. The role involves client management, risk management, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. Candidates should have a strong background in environmental services related to the power industry.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAct as a client manager for select clientsLead risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverablesWork collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate expertsPerform routing/siting studies and analyses and preparing associated reportsPrepare and monitor project scope, schedule, and budgetProvide advice and direction on state filing requirementsPrepare state-specific siting applicationsPrepare state Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and other environmental documentsTravel on average 30% of the time expectedPerform other duties as neededThe successful candidate will be expected to perform non-routine tasks on multiple projects simultaneously; contribute to researching and writing concise technical documents; assist with diverse projects and innovate and follow through to completion of all assigned and delegated tasks. This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as complete tasks within tight deadlines. Applicants must be detail-oriented, organized, effective communicators, and a team player with a strong focus on quality and client service.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Planning or Environmental ScienceMinimum 8 years writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budget, and schedules for complex environmental projects with multi-disciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts with a strong focus on siting and routing studiesMinimum 7 years of experience in environmental planning and regulatory experienceExperience preparing applications for submittal to the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUCT) is highly desirableExperience preparing and providing expert witness testimonyExperience and understanding of permit requirements in TX, NM, LA, and OKStrong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, and research abilitiesAbility to support multiple complex and time sensitive projects effectivelyIdentify and resolve issues effectively and efficientlyRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in related field7 years related experienceA minimum of 2 years project management experienceAbility to interact with various design teams, excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
