About the position
The School of Sustainability (SOS) at Arizona State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Sustainable Food Systems, starting August 2025. Responsibilities
• Contribute to curriculum development for Sustainable Food Systems programs.

• Deliver instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

• Supervise honors, master's, and doctoral students.

• Conduct research publishable in top-tier academic journals.

• Participate in professional and university service.

• Develop grant proposals for external funding.

• Engage with society for teaching, research, and/or service in sustainability.
Requirements
• PhD in a discipline related to the sustainability of food systems by time of appointment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience conducting empirical research in food systems sustainability or related fields with a publication record.

• Demonstrated teaching experience and effectiveness in creating an inclusive academic environment.

• Expertise in topics supporting Sustainable Food Systems degree programs.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in inter- and transdisciplinary research collaborations related to sustainable food systems.

• Research in thematic areas of food systems including ecological change, food security, and social justice.

• Ability to develop and maintain an independent, innovative, and externally funded research program in food systems.

• Expertise in global dimensions of sustainable food systems.

• Experience teaching multicultural students across multiple learning platforms.
