About the position

The Teacher Naturalist II at Mass Audubon is responsible for developing and teaching educational programs focused on environmental education, climate change, and natural history for various audiences, including K-12 students and adults. This role involves significant program coordination, curriculum development, and community engagement, while also serving as a resource on environmental science issues. The position requires collaboration with peers and supervision of seasonal educators, with a workload distribution of 60-70% on program coordination and 30-40% on teaching.

Responsibilities
• Develop and implement lessons and activities for specific audiences and/or focus areas.

• Conduct evaluation of programs in accordance with statewide Education Department guidelines.

• Collaborate with peers to review program portfolio and make refinements based on data results.

• Serve as a resource on natural science and conservation science issues for visitors and program participants.

• Maintain educational supplies, curricula, and instructional materials.

• Collaborate in the planning, scheduling, and marketing of educational programs.
,
• Provide work direction for part-time staff or volunteers.
,
• Monitor program income and expenses and communicate with supervisor regarding variances.

• Participate in regional and statewide education staff meetings and professional development trainings.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree related to environmental education, environmental science, or climate change.

• Five or more years of experience in environmental education, science education, or curriculum development.

• Work experience in an educational setting (classroom or informal learning environment).

• Knowledge of best practices in positive youth development and culturally responsive education.

• Ability to promote and respect diversity and facilitate an inclusive team environment.

• Strong project management experience, including budget development and oversight.
