Job Description
Climate Pros LLC is seeking a Tax Manager for their Finance Team in Glendale Heights, IL, with a hybrid work model of two days in the office and three days remote. Responsibilities include managing sales and use tax processes, liaising with IT and tax firms, overseeing audits, and ensuring compliance. Candidates should have a relevant degree, substantial tax experience, and strong communication skills.
We are looking for a Tax Manager to join the Finance Team at their office in Glendale Heights, Illinois. This position is hybrid, requiring two days in the office, and will involve interaction with all levels of management and personnel. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to assist the company in achieving its goals and objectives.
This position is Hybrid located out of Glendale Heights, IL. You will report to the office twice a week, and the other 3 days will be remote. The initial training period in the beginning will be fully in office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the tax process for the sales and use tax function including VAT (Canada) from registration though filing of monthly, quarterly and annual returns.
• Maintenance of tax rules for Avalara filing software ensuring the company is properly assessing and collecting sales and use taxes from our customers. Will be supported by our tax accounting firm.
• Acting liaison with our Information Technology team to ensure data is properly feeding from our priority software to Avalara and invoices are being properly taxed.
• Oversight of resale and exemption certificates process.
• Responsible for oversite and assistant with certain month end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis as assigned.
• Manage the annual audit processes as related to tax matters, providing our auditors with reconciliations and financial information.
• Manage any sales and use tax local or state audit or any customer tax audits.
• Draft and send timely responses to notices from state taxing authorities.
• Acting liaison with our tax accounting firm for income, franchise and other tax matters including securing R&D tax credits and other related incentives to lower taxable income
• Collaborate with HR and licensing personnel inside the company to ensure company is properly registered with states and counties we do business in
• Assisting in the integration of acquisitions on related tax matters
• Create and maintain documentation for continuous improvement of internal control processes.
• Perform special projects, as required, to assist the department and the company in achieving its goals and objectives.
• Ability to work with others and to communicate tax technical concepts to a non-tax audience when necessary.
• This position has one direct report.

Desired Skills, Certifications, and Education:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Master's degree in taxation
• 8 to 10+ years of experience with local/multi-state sales and use tax filings.
• CPA a plus
• Demonstrated leadership ability and prior management experience.
• Proven analytical skills coupled with intellectual curiosity.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Highly organized and process-driven.
• Excels in a fast-paced environment.
• Good problem-solver with attention to detail
• Dependable professional with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Experience with Avalara or other Sales and Use tax software.
• Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel
• Be an honest team player, growth-oriented, and able to do whatever it takes; safely!
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Occasional light lifting of office equipment, materials and boxes; frequent walking and standing; requires dexterity in use of fingers for the operation of computers and other office equipment. Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds; noise level is usually quiet. All employees may be required to visit a customer site and/or complete a ride along with a field technician as part of their employment.
