Job Description

About the position

The Systems Impact Planner position at the State of Iowa involves contributing to the planning and development of the state's transportation system. This role is critical in addressing mobility challenges and supporting the Iowa Department of Transportation's mission of enhancing transportation for the community. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and emphasizes the importance of safety, sustainability, and effective communication.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate stewardship planning functions related to resiliency and sustainability efforts.

• Support diverse modal planning activities and assist with safety planning functions.
,
• Lead the department's Resiliency and Sustainability Committee.
,
• Assist in updating and implementing the state's long-range transportation plan.
,
• Conduct impact and benefit/cost analyses.
,
• Participate in multi-disciplinary safety planning activities and workshops.
,
• Support the development of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan and local safety plans.
,
• Conduct crash analysis and assist with field safety audits.

Requirements
• Graduation or pending graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in a relevant field such as transportation planning, civil engineering, or data science.

• Experience in civil/transportation/traffic engineering, environmental engineering, finance, or related fields is preferred.

• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
