Job Description

The Harry James Group is seeking a Systems Engineer for Energy Storage & Optimization to oversee electrical design, engineering, and technical support for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. The role involves collaboration with various teams, field testing, and document review. Candidates should have a degree in Electrical or Power Engineering, 5 years of relevant experience, and the ability to travel occasionally. This is a remote, full-time position with a salary of A$80K–A$100K.
The Harry James Group is working in partnership with a globally recognised, smart technologies company who is currently expanding due to market demand. We are searching for a System Engineer for the Energy Storage & Optimization (ES&O) business. This role will be part of the growing Project Delivery team in Australia, reporting into the Manager – Project Delivery.

As System Engineer, Energy Storage & Optimization (ES&O), your work will focus on these responsibilities:
• Overseeing the Customer Project Delivery Electrical Design, Engineering, Procurement, Commissioning, and Technical Support of the Battery and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) including PLC and GEMS functionality associated with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Projects with the flexibility and knowledge to work with the AC and high power electrical systems as well.
• Being a technical Subject Matter Expert, working closely with the following groups: Software Delivery, Product Delivery, Sales Management, Project Management, Commissioning Management, Suppliers, and other various groups to ensure BESS Projects fulfil customer functionality and contract requirements.
• Taking part in field testing and commissioning activities by developing test plans and collaborating with the field engineering team to execute and troubleshoot as needed.
• Reviewing a decent amount of electrical engineering documents produced by others, providing feedback in a timely manner to ensure project requirements are met.
• Revising existing and developing technical documents according to our standards using software like AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary global team. The candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment while the industry and company go through substantial growth.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
• Minimum BS or MS degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• 5 years’ experience with renewable energy (Solar Utility Scale) and/or Energy Storage System (ESS), Power System Design, Communication Network, and minor Software knowledge.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 10-15% to take part in technical discussions with suppliers and customers as well as the technical commissioning process.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronic equipment (BMS, inverters, protection relays, etc.).
