About the position

The Sustainable Operations Manager at UC Santa Cruz will support the Sustainability Office by managing programs, implementing policies, and supervising students. This role focuses on advancing the university's circular economy initiatives and fostering a culture of sustainability across campus. The position requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days on campus and allows for up to two days of remote work per week.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate sustainability programs management, focusing on materials management and food systems.

• Provide strategic guidance and support to operational units and academic divisions for sustainability goals.

• Engage with students on various projects to support leadership and sustainability programs.

• Supervise student employees working on resource, zero waste, food, and inclusive sustainability programs.

• Support implementation and reporting for the UC systemwide Sustainable Practices Policy.

• Represent the Sustainability Office at campus and community events.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Studies, or Policy, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.

• Working knowledge of diverse sustainability concepts.

• Outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills.

• Strong project management skills.

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to analyze, research, and synthesize data with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves
• Working knowledge of green building principles and sustainable concepts related to the circular economy.
