Sustainable Landscape Designer

Calvin Craig Landscaping is seeking a part-time Sustainable Landscape Designer in Pleasant Hill, CA. We are an award-winning design-built landscape company that has been in business for over 37 years. We have designed and built some of the most beautiful spaces in East Bay. Since 1988, we have specialized in commercial and mostly residential design-build of fine and organic gardening, low water, low maintenance with high output of colors, to attract desired wildlife. We do high quality work and believe in getting the jobs done on time, on budget and to the customer’s satisfaction. We stay up to date with the current materials, technology, and more sustainable landscaping; yet believe in quality and old fashioned customer service. The designer will work in an office environment with another designer and the owner, who is also the contractor/designer/horticulturist to make site visits. The designer will measure existing landscapes, lengths and elevations, placement of plants, take offs of our and outside plants to feed into an estimating program, writing up proposals (from template), writing up plant care notes, researching plant and hardscape items and some purchasing, scheduling, consulting, and creating zone maps for irrigation.

LANDSCAPE DESIGNER: We are looking for…

· Enthusiastic attitude and pleasant personality

· Detail-oriented, who loves blending nature with design and is passionate about shaping outdoor spaces

· AA-Masters in landscape design or landscape architecture

· At least 4 years’ experience in digital landscape design

· SketchUp or AutoCAD skills or willing to learn

· Good listening skills

· Knowledge of sustainable practices such as sheet mulching, beneficial plants, nurturing soil health, low maintenance and low water plants, sustainable materials, and Fire Safe designs

· Knowledge of hardscape design such as pergolas, outdoor kitchens, walls, concrete, paver, and etc…

· Knowledge of the diverse plant pallet available locally, especially mediterranean, native and desert plants

· Able to design in different styles mixed border, desert, asianesce, native, formal and etc…

· You will need a car to travel to clients, usually within 30 minutes of Pleasant Hill, with mileage reimbursement

· Basic knowledge of plants/garden maintenance

REQUIREMENTS:

· Degree or certification in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture, or extensive experience.

· Knowledge of locally used plant and construction materials, and all around a good people person.

· Physically able to perform light field work, like plant layout.

· Must have at least 4 years of SketchUp or AutoCAD

· Proficient with Google suites: Doc, Sheet, Calendar, Drive, MS Words, MS Excel

· A solid communicator (written and verbal)

· Must be able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.

PAY: Up to $45.00 per hour
