Join Salmon Valley Stewardship and the Creative Confluence Tool Library as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Salmon, Idaho, starting April 2025. This one-year position focuses on enhancing local food systems, community education, and access to resources. Who: Salmon Valley Stewardship (SVS) and the Creative Confluence Tool Library are committed to strengthening the region’s food system, fostering education and collaboration, and democratizing access to essential resources. Through our community programs and grassroots efforts, we aim to build a more resilient, equitable, and thriving community. What: Join our program as an AmeriCorps VISTA and work with these great organizations building capacity and creating long-term positive outcomes in food sovereignty, community education, and local economic development. When/Where: This is a one-year service position beginning in April 2025. You will work with our staff at SVS and the Tool Library in the rural yet resilient community of Salmon, Idaho. How: Working with the Tool Library, alleviate poverty by expanding the impact of this important tool sharing program with three main goals: 1) Develop a volunteer engagement and training strategy, collaborating with partners to create a community education program; 2) Create and implement strategies to increase program access for underserved and limited-income community members; 3) Design a long-term plan for program sustainability through funding opportunities and creative partnerships. With SVS’s Food Systems Program, facilitate a community coalition group to foster and guide momentum in three key initiatives: 1) Develop a local food gleaning program; 2) implement a community commercial kitchen funding campaign; and 3) Create systems for the Farmers Market to increase vendor and community collaboration and provide financial stability. Also, create a more equitable and thriving economy by connecting projects to SVS’s broader mission and programs. Member Duties : Ignite community change by joining us as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Salmon Valley Stewardship and the Creative Confluence Tool Library! In Salmon, Idaho you’ll be part of a close-knit community on the verge of remarkable transformation. Foster connections and leverage resources to build capacity in our food systems, tool-sharing, and community building programs. Key outcomes of this position are to strengthen sustainable local food initiatives, reduce barriers to self-reliance, and expand access to essential resources. You’ll evaluate the success of these program goals and use feedback from the community to drive momentum forward for these initiatives. Through your work you’ll democratize access to the very tools and resources every community needs to succeed, from local food producers to families needing a wood splitter to keep their house warm. This role is perfect for a self-motivated individual ready to bring bold ideas to life and help build a resilient, thriving community.
