About the position

U.S. Bank is seeking a Sustainable Finance Product Strategist to join our newly established Sustainable Finance Team. This role is pivotal in our mission to assist customers and businesses in making informed financial decisions while fostering community growth and success. The Sustainable Finance Product Strategist will report directly to the Managing Director of Sustainable Finance and will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing sustainable finance products that align with U.S. Bank's strategic goals, including our commitment to a $50 billion Environmental Finance initiative by 2030. The Sustainable Finance team operates within U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance, taking an integrated approach to product development. This involves collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including Credit, P&L owners, the ESG Program Office, and Risk management, to ensure our offerings are competitive and meet the evolving needs of the market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sustainability trends and principles, along with extensive experience in banking product development. In this dynamic role, the Sustainable Finance Product Strategist will be responsible for conducting capability gap assessments, developing product roadmaps, and translating market insights into actionable product strategies. The position requires a blend of analytical skills, project management expertise, and creative problem-solving abilities, all while maintaining compliance with the bank's sustainable finance framework and environmental risk management policies. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance for three or more days per week, with flexibility for remote work on other days. The role also involves a travel expectation of approximately 20%.

Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Managing Director of Sustainable Finance to develop new/enhanced Sustainable Finance product roadmaps.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a competitive offering that aligns with evolving market needs and corporate sustainability priorities.

• Provide insights on the sustainable finance market landscape to inform new product strategy development.
,
• Develop technical business opportunity cases including value proposition, market opportunity sizing, product channels, and projected revenue streams.
,
• Keep abreast of the competitive landscape and market trends.
,
• Ensure compliance with the bank's sustainable finance framework and environmental and social risk management policies.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (business, economics, finance, sustainability).
,
• 10 years of relevant banking product development/management work experience, particularly in sustainable finance or impact investing.
,
• Strong knowledge of sustainable finance standards, instruments, and financing solutions.
,
• Strong quantitative and benchmarking analysis skills.
,
• Experience developing and executing an implementation plan for a product vision or strategy.
,
• Experience working in the banking sector or in a strategic consulting role is an asset.
,
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
,
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally to deliver strategic projects efficiently.
,
• Highly skilled in the creation of briefing materials, report writing, and preparation of presentations.

• Knowledge of banking environmental and social risks and ESRM policies.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience with structured finance products.

• Familiarity with ICMA - GBP, SBP, SLBP, Tax equity, and Project finance.
