beBee Careers is hiring a Sustainable Buildings Expert in Lowell, MA. The role requires a Mechanical Engineer with geothermal expertise to lead a team in developing geothermal energy projects, conducting feasibility studies, and training junior staff. Responsibilities include managing design compliance, collaborating with sales for proposals, and attending conferences. A bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience are required. Domestic and international travel may be necessary.
We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer to excel as our Geothermal Energy Discipline Leader. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer with expertise in geothermal heating and cooling systems, and a proven track record of driving growth and innovation.
In this position, you will lead a team of technical experts to develop geothermal capabilities, direct and manage the design of geothermal energy projects, develop staff, and contribute to sales growth. You will also collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests, review draft proposals for compliance with regulations, and attend conferences to promote the firm's products and services.
Main Responsibilities:
• Conduct feasibility studies, analyze bore field systems, design geothermal heating and cooling systems, and develop technical documents.
• Lead teams to create conceptual designs, review designs for regulatory compliance, and train junior staff.
• Meet with clients, perform site assessments, and collaborate with clients and government officials to resolve technical queries.
• Supervise junior engineers, mentor junior staff, and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or in Engineering Technology or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of governmental and utility incentive programs for sustainable heating and cooling.
• Experience developing Building Heating and Cooling Load Modeling & Life Cycle Cost Analysis.
• AEE Certified GeoExchange Designer preferred.
• IGSHPA Certified Geothermal Inspector preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
• Advanced Knowledge of CADD software and practices.
• Expert Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
• Expert Knowledge of Microsoft business software.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
• Expert knowledge of commercial building sciences and mechanical system design.
