About the position
The Sustainability and Energy Manager at Bowling Green Metalforming will oversee, execute, and manage the Energy and Sustainability Programs, focusing on continuous improvement and capital endeavors related to energy efficiency. This role is pivotal in tracking and communicating savings while ensuring project expenses are supervised and objectives are met in a timely manner. The manager will report to the highest level within the division, such as the General Manager or Assistant General Manager, and will lead a cross-functional team dedicated to energy-related activities. The position requires adherence to the Magna Net-Zero Carbon Playbook and involves creating transparency regarding energy and sustainability goals. The manager will also review energy-related performance indicators (KPIs) and champion energy reduction initiatives within the organization. Key responsibilities include determining savings opportunities, conducting profitability calculations for energy-saving projects, and continuously improving energy efficiency through technical and organizational measures. The manager will be responsible for utilizing renewable energy sources, identifying funding opportunities, and initiating awareness-raising activities for staff. Additionally, the role includes ensuring compliance with current energy legislation, overseeing the implementation of energy efficiency projects, and managing various energy-related continuous improvement and capital projects. The manager will also prepare documentation and status updates for ongoing projects and present energy-related recommendations to management teams. In terms of energy monitoring and cost planning, the manager will determine and record operational energy consumption and costs, prepare consumption data for budget compilation, and detect optimization potentials through energy monitoring systems. The role also involves conducting monthly energy team meetings, updating energy project trackers, and benchmarking energy efficiency measures against other Magna plants or suppliers. The manager will stay in contact with other Energy Champions within Magna and will be responsible for sourcing financial incentives and preparing applications for funding.

• Create and oversee the implementation of short and long-term projects to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

• Manage various energy-related continuous improvement and capital projects.

• Submit formal documentation and status updates for all current projects.

• Maintain all required documentation relating to projects.

• Determine and record operational energy consumption and costs.

• Prepare consumption data for budget compilation and ongoing plausibility checks.

• Implement energy-related cost-saving measures with support from developers.

• Conduct monthly energy team meetings and update energy project trackers.
,
• Benchmark new/existing energy efficiency measures at other Magna plants or suppliers.
Requirements
• Degree in Energy/Sustainability Management or a minimum of 3 years of related experience in energy project management or industrial facilities management.

• Experience analyzing energy operational data such as electricity, gas, and water to identify improvement opportunities.
,
• Proven ability to complete a wide array of energy projects.
,
• Previous experience in manufacturing and plant automation is preferred.
,
• Experience in an automotive manufacturing facility is preferred.
,
• Knowledge of process improvement and process equipment such as Compressors, Chillers, and HVAC systems is preferred.

• Knowledge of electrical systems is preferred.
,
• Effective leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.
,
• Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
,
• Appropriate presentation skills for customer interface.
,
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and uphold confidentiality.
