Job Summary
The Associate Manager 1, Sustainability is responsible for leading corporate social responsibility initiatives and goal-setting within the Company, as well as communicating those initiatives and goals to multiple audiences, including customers, suppliers, consumers, and our own employees.
Essential Position Functions:
• Leads the process of gathering information to respond to customer requests, building a database of information in the process for future requests. Manages responses to customer inquiries and/or completes questionnaires and data requests related to social responsibility and sustainability collaborating across departments to obtain required information.
• Closely monitors trends and regulations in the areas of corporate social responsibility, audits information for application to our businesses, and communicates to leadership to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Works cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, and other departments; audits current internal activities.
• Builds out a multi-year plan to grow Reser’s corporate social and sustainability responsibility initiatives and programs, taking into consideration key customer requirements, operational complexities of the Company, cost and feasibility, as well current activities. Sets priorities and milestones based on the plan.
• Communicates plan to Company leadership, and once approved, builds strategy to communicate plan out to all key audiences.
• Communicates with leadership, purchasing and HR to ensure supplier diversity and employee diversity, equity and inclusion programs and initiatives are appropriately communicated internally and externally.
• Drafts and delivers presentations and reports to communicate corporate responsibility and sustainability initiatives and their effectiveness and impact.
• Partners with marketing to promote corporate responsibility and sustainability practices, procedures, and objectives effectively.
• Communicates project plans, status, issues, risks, and requirements to relevant audiences regularly.
• Builds and supports internal “green teams” at all locations.
• Collaborates with Operations & Continuous improvement teams to track sustainability efforts, best practices, and continuous improvements to gain efficiencies; recommends changes to procedures to maximize resources.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or credential in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, social sciences, business or equivalent. Relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of degree. Prior experience in corporate social responsibility and sustainability, preferably in food manufacturing.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:
• Understanding of issues in the food manufacturing industry, including environmental regulations and sustainability requirements, social and political ramifications.
• Passion for corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
• Exceptional communication skills, including verbal, written, listening and interpersonal.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent projects against timelines.
• Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and accurate.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Travel up to 20% of the time.
This position is eligible for a bonus based on company goals/performance.
