Job Title: Sustainability Specialist
The primary responsibility of this role is to coordinate with internal colleagues to develop and implement sustainable practices throughout the organization.
This involves working towards long-term environmental goals, implementing additional sustainable practices, reporting on progress through national and international initiatives, and continuously improving the program through key performance indicator (KPI) development and process documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a comprehensive packaging sustainability strategy in collaboration with national and international colleagues.
• Support scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations and reduction processes, including supplier relationship development and auditing of supplier sustainability performance.
• Contribute to designing and updating standard operating procedures and tools for ongoing monitoring of KPIs and supporting program advancement.
• Develop and implement colleague engagement efforts, including educational trainings and collaborative approaches from leading players in the sustainability program development space.
• Support new strategies and initiatives that advance sustainable procurement, operational efficiencies, and promote environmental stewardship.
• Prepare presentations and other materials to advance key sustainability projects.
• Analyze environmental trends among peers, clients, and other stakeholders, sharing innovative ideas for integrating or improving the program.
• Evaluate sustainable packaging materials, source materials, and correlate economical, market, technical, operational, and other impacts.
• Conduct environmental studies and prepare associated sustainability documentation (e.g., feasibility studies, value engineering) of basic to high complexity.
• Participate in developing sustainability and mitigation plans.
• Meet with cross-functional teams to discuss recommendations and implement plans as appropriate.

• Attend meetings as required and/or assigned.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Special Job Dimensions:
• Up to 10% travel may be required.

Required Qualifications:
• Experience managing and/or contributing to environmental programs, calculations, and reporting.
• Familiarity with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks, advising on best practices and potential tools.
• Participation in grassroots or employee-led environmental efforts.
• High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and maturity.
• Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
• Ability to effectively project manage initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Highly organized with strong project management skills; ability to manage complex processes.
• Strong execution skills, with ability to work independently while pursuing organizational and team goals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation development skills.
• Knowledge of life cycle assessment processes and understanding of how to evaluate a product's environmental footprint.
Education, Certification/License & Work Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an environmental/ESG professional, or equivalent.
Total Rewards Package:
• Base compensation: $71,000 - $93,000 annually, based on specific compensable factors.
• Bonus eligibility: This role is eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program.
