Dayton Freight is seeking a Sustainability Specialist for an onsite role in Dayton, OH. The position involves managing sustainability projects, coordinating data collection, and developing the company's sustainability program. Responsibilities
• Responsible for the management of various Service Center-related sustainability projects (i.e., waste management, recycling, etc.)
• Complete and submit required and requested sustainability surveys (Ecovadis, CDP, etc.)
• Work closely with Facilities Maintenance to learn facility and environmental processes, understand adherence to environmental policies, initiatives and materials when building new or renovating old facilities
• Work with appropriate directors on items such as waste management and DE&I initiatives
• Collect, maintain and provide metrics on electric equipment and other energy and output sources
• Assist in the development and day-to-day coordination of Dayton Freight Lines’ sustainability program framework
• Track sustainability program metrics and communicate status to internal and external customers
• Coordinate data collection, quality control and analysis to meet the Company’s internal and external reporting commitments
• Evaluate and provide recommendations for third-party consulting and data management services related to sustainability efforts
• Onboard and oversee third-party vendors that assist in performing environmental sustainability work for data reporting and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) regulations
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with third-party vendors and contacts
• Coordinate sustainability communications and training
• Serve as resource and subject matter expert for sustainability pilots, programs and related initiatives
• Educate leadership on sustainable transportation developments in infrastructure, policy, energy, equipment and technology
• Establish KPIs to measure the success and impact of current and new initiatives
• Collaborate with appropriate departments and teams to upgrade systems and equipment for improved utility efficiency
• Research and gather environmental data, industry trends and published research for use in strategic planning
• Analize the costs and benefits of emission reduction strategies
• Develop policy and program recommendations to support sustainability programs
• Develop and analyze forecasts of the use of conventional and alternative fuels in the transportation sector
• Continue to evaluate Dayton Freight Lines’ sustainability needs based on Customers’ expectations
• Understand Dayton Freight’s values and mission to continually provide recommendations for new initiatives based on required industry standards
• Work on other projects related to sales, facility maintenance and overall Dayton Freight operations
• Continuously improve processes

Qualifications
• 3+ years’ experience within logistics, transportation, supply chain or within sustainability
• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability Planning Engineering, Energy Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability or 5+ years related experience
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 carbon emissions
• Knowledge of current sustainability industry initiatives, trends and tools
• Knowledge and understanding of Greenhouse Gas Inventory and reporting standards
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Fluent in English
