About the position
The County of San Mateo's Sustainability Department seeks qualified candidates for the position of Sustainability Program Manager - Solid Waste. This position is open and promotional, allowing anyone to apply. Current County of San Mateo employees with at least six months (1040 hours) of continuous service in a classified regular, probationary, or extra help/limited term position prior to the final filing date will receive five points added to their passing score on the final examination in this process.
Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee solid waste programs and initiatives.

• Develop and implement sustainability strategies and policies.

• Collaborate with community stakeholders to promote waste reduction and recycling.

• Monitor and report on program performance and effectiveness.

• Conduct outreach and education efforts to engage the community.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public administration, or a related field.

• Minimum of three years of experience in sustainability or solid waste management.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
