About the position
The Sustainability Manager at the University of Maryland is responsible for overseeing the Department's sustainability programs, including grant management, research, and energy management. This role involves managing initiatives such as the Campus Pantry, Farmers Market, Terp Farm, and Food Recovery Program, while reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders and promote sustainability practices across the campus.
Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of the Department's Sustainability programs.

• Manage grant proposals and funding for sustainability initiatives.

• Conduct research and data analysis related to sustainability.

• Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans for sustainability efforts.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives.

• Communicate complex sustainability topics to the general public and university community.

• Supervise professional and para-professional staff involved in sustainability programs.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Public Health, Environmental Policy, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of sustainability management and leadership experience.

• At least 3 years of supervisory experience of professional and para-professional staff.

• Outstanding leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

• Basic knowledge of budgets and administrative processes.
Nice-to-haves
• Master's degree in a related field.

• Understanding of the public university environment and campus dining programs.
