Job Description
Idaho State University is seeking a Sustainability Manager/Coordinator to lead its Sustainability Program. This on-campus role involves coordinating sustainability initiatives, developing renewable energy plans, analyzing data for sustainability assessments, and engaging students in sustainability efforts. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience in environmental or sustainability programs. It is not eligible for remote work and is based in Pocatello, ID.

Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of the Environmental Health, Safety and Sustainability Department the Sustainability Manager/Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of Idaho State University’s Sustainability Program. This position partners with academic, research, operations, and student groups and units to develop initiatives and activities related to environmental stewardship and sustainability. This position is responsible for facilitating and tracking the progress of sustainability goals for the university.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate sustainability initiatives within the Campus Operations Division by working directly with Maintenance and Operations, Custodial, University Events and Parking and Transportation
• Lead the development of short and long-term planning for renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, resource conservation and waste minimization
• Partner with Parking and Transportation Services to determine the feasibility of expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and the adoption of electric vehicles and carts
• Collect and analyze data for utilization in the Sustainability Tracking Assessment and Rating System (STARS) and Idaho State University Sustainability Action Plan
• Create and maintain a public facing sustainability dashboard
• Develop materials for the campus community that highlight sustainability initiatives and practices
• Partner with the ASISU to develop sustainability initiatives across campus that directly serve students and foster their engagement in sustainability behaviors
• Support existing environmental initiatives and serve as a campus educational resource for sustainability information, best practices, data and standards
• Assess and analyze institutional policies and process to identify areas in which efficiencies can be created to further the organization’s commitment to sustainability
• Prepare presentations and reports for leadership and other key stakeholders
• Coordinate the Sustainability Council and administer the Student Sustainability Fund
• Supervise and coordinate the work of student interns
Minimum Qualifications
Sustainability Coordinator:
• Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience working on environmental or sustainability programs and projects
• In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, ten years of training and experience in sustainability programs
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
Sustainability Manager:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as engineering, sustainability, environmental policy, environmental science
• Four or more years of experience coordinating sustainability programs
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree
• Knowledge of green building standards and sustainable construction practices
• Experience in higher education
• Experience in managing environmental programs or outdoor education programs in a community or academic setting
• Experience in planning long-term strategic initiatives
• Experience preparing STARS reports
• Experience managing a Sustainability Action Plan
Additional Information

Salary range will be as follows per year, commensurate with education and experience:
• Sustainability Coordinator - $60,000 - $75,000
• Sustainability Manager - $75,000 - $95,000
