Job Description
The College of Lake County is seeking a full-time Sustainability Manager to oversee sustainability programs and services. This role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and community organizations to advance sustainability goals. Key responsibilities include managing the Sustainability Plan, participating in governance groups, and providing education and outreach. The position is based at the Grayslake Campus in Illinois and requires a commitment of 40 hours per week.

Job Summary:
The Sustainability Manager will organize the delivery of programs
and services for the college's Sustainability goals. The
Sustainability Manager will work in collaboration with CLC faculty
and staff, local government agencies, not-for profits, and other
agencies and organizations to support the college's sustainability
efforts around the campus, in the curriculum, and throughout the
community. The Sustainability Manager will be directly involved in
providing services to students, faculty, residents, businesses, and
others seeking information, resources, and training in the areas of
sustainability.

Job Description:
Summary of Essential Functions:
Project and Process Management: 50%
Develops and maintains the Sustainability Plan and the Annual
Performance Report. Participates actively on the Sustainability
Council and provides support to other shared governance groups.
Attends webinars, networking meetings, and conferences related to
sustainability in higher education. Provides
education/outreach/advocacy for the following constituent groups:
Campus Facilities and Construction/Capital Development departments,
to identify, initiate, support, and institutionalize resource
conservation practices focused on waste reduction, energy and water
conservation, environmental purchasing, dining services,
landscaping, etc. Staff, through workshops, the Sustainability
Council, Sust'y eBlasts, and the Sustainability Center. Students,
through the Environmental Club, SGA, class visits, and at the
Sustainability Center. Faculty, supporting proposals for new
training and curricula. Community, by hosting meetings of the Lake
County Community Partners for Sustainability, facilitating the Lake
County Green conferences, presenting at special events, and
representing CLC at outside forums. Business, non-profit,
and government sectors with requests for assistance in strategies
to address their sustainability needs. Public relations through
emails, website presence, press releases, social media, the Living
Lab Trail, and the Sustainability Center. High school students,
leading tours of the Science building, Living Lab Trail, apiary and
Campus Farm. Highlights educational/career/wellness benefits
associated with campus-based sustainability projects, such as:
Construction/Capital Development Projects. Recycling/compost
education and waste reduction. Energy efficiency measures for
electrical or gas applications. Renewable energy, with solar
thermal, solar PV and geothermal heat exchange. Alternative
transportation, promoting use of the Pace Bus service and bicycle
resources. Grounds projects, with bioswales, native landscaping,
restoration workdays, and integrated pest management. Dining
services, with the culinary program, Campus Farm, auxiliary
services, the food services committee, and vendors.

following: Grant applications and reports Triennial Sustainability
Plan Annual Sustainability Performance Report Annual Second Nature

Demonstrates a positive attitude, a strong environmental ethic,
and a team approach toward accomplishing institutional goals.
Demonstrates commitment to CLC Values and participates
with CLC initiatives. Follows institutional and
regulatory policies, procedures, and standards. Performs other
related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies or related field.
• Five (5) years' Community college, not-for-profit, or corporate
experience.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
• Strong organizational and project management skills as
demonstrated by work experience.
• Ability to travel locally and regionally.
• Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with
persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities;
demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse
academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of
community college students, faculty, and staff, including those
with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working
relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working in collaboration with multiple entities in
the development and implementation of programs and services
preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
Salary:
$75,400 - $77,350 This range is firm. The salary offer in this
range will be commensurate with the candidate's education and
experience.
