We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Sustainability Manager – North America to

help advance our sustainability goals, ensuring our products and operations reflect the

Position Overview

The Sustainability Manager – North America will play a critical role in implementing and

localizing Novalis’ global sustainability strategy across our North American operations. This

individual will work closely with the Global Sustainability Manager, Product Management,

R&D, Procurement, and Production teams to enhance resource efficiency, ensure

compliance with U.S. environmental regulations, and drive product innovation rooted in

circular design principles. This person will also serve as the North American face of Novalis

sustainability—confidently representing the brand to customers, certification bodies, and

industry partners.

Strategy & Implementation
• Implement and adapt Novalis’ global sustainability strategy within North America to

meet corporate targets for environmental and social impact reduction.
• Embed circular thinking (cradle-to-cradle principles) into all stages of product design,

production, and marketing.
• Translate regulatory requirements and global standards into actionable product and

operational requirements for the North American business.
• Work closely with the Global Sustainability Manager to align data collection, reporting,

and initiatives with global frameworks.

Product Development & R&D Collaboration
• Partner with Product Management and R&D during the discovery phase to provide U.S.

sustainability market insights, compliance information, and sustainability criteria for

new products.
• Support the testing, evaluation, and certification of new products during the

development phase.
• Screen new primary and secondary raw materials for compliance with U.S.

environmental regulations and Novalis sustainability guidelines.
• Challenge R&D to explore alternative and recycled materials, and continuously improve

product circularity and recyclability.

Operations, Data & Reporting
• Coordinate data collection and evaluation for the annual corporate sustainability report,

aligning with GRI, SASB, and ESRS standards.
• Analyze North American supply chain activities to identify opportunities for increased

resource efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
• Manage and maintain sustainability databases and cloud storage systems for internal

reporting and transparency.
• Analyze our waste streams and work on waste reduction schemes to divert production

and packaging waste from landfill and incineration.

Certifications & Compliance
• Oversee and maintain product certifications (e.g., FloorScore, Greenguard, EPD, HPD,

Declare) and site certifications (e.g, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001) for North

American operations.
• Support customers and stakeholders in meeting green building standards such as LEED

and WELL.
• Ensure continuous compliance with all North American environmental and

sustainability regulations.

Employee & Customer Engagement
• Provide sustainability training for Novalis employees to foster awareness and

ownership of sustainability initiatives.
• Represent Novalis in customer meetings, industry events, and sustainability forums as a

credible, professional voice for our environmental commitment.
• Offer sustainability support to North American operations and customers as needed,

serving as a key contact for sustainability-related inquiries.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or

related field.
• Minimum 5 years of sustainability or environmental management experience,

preferably within the flooring, building materials, or manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of green building certification systems (LEED, WELL, etc.) and

environmental labeling systems (EPD, HPD, Declare, etc.).
• Proven experience with LCA methodologies, data collection for GRI/SASB/ESRS, and

corporate sustainability reporting.
• Strong understanding of circular economy principles and product stewardship.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to

customers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
• Preferred certifications: LEED AP, WELL AP, or equivalent sustainability accreditation.

Why Join Novalis

manufacture, and inspire. You’ll be part of a global team committed to leading our industry

toward a circular, transparent, and resilient future. If you’re passionate about transforming
