Job Description

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is seeking a Sustainability Logistics Manager for a short-term, full-time position from January 20 to June 16, 2025. This role supports the Sustainability Coordinator by managing logistics for sustainability initiatives, overseeing pre-production planning, production activities, and post-event evaluations. Responsibilities include collaborating on timelines, managing inventory, vendor relationships, and volunteer recruitment to ensure sustainability goals are met.
TIME FRAME: This is a short term, seasonal position.

FULL TIME from January 20, 2025 to June 16, 2025

POSITION SUMMARY: The Sustainability Logistics Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the Sustainability Coordinator to ensure the success of our sustainability initiatives. This role involves overseeing various aspects of logistics and operations, contributing to the planning, execution, and evaluation of sustainability programs before, during, and after events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Pre-Production:
• Collaborate in drafting detailed timelines, resource allocation, and contingency plans for seamless event logistics.
• Assist Sustainability Coordinator in managing sustainability initiatives, collaborating with departments to ensure vendors, artists, and sponsors meet sustainability goals.
• Support volunteer outreach and recruitment efforts.
• Participate in interviews for sustainability positions within the organization.
• Assist in budget tracking alongside the Sustainability Coordinator and Operations Manager.
• Prepare and submit necessary paperwork for the implementation of sustainability directives and recycling efforts.

Production:
• Take ownership of all inventory and assets related to sustainability operations, including reusable materials, signage, tools, supplies, and promotional items.
• Implement efficient inventory tracking systems to monitor usage, replenishment needs, and minimize waste.
• Manage relationships with vendors providing vehicles, trailers, and other equipment crucial to sustainability operations.
• Monitor processes, volunteers, and duties for adaptation during the event.
• Assist with training employees and creating relevant training documents.
• Optionally participate in the sorting process of recycling and landfill materials.
