About the position
The Sustainability Initiatives Manager at Associates of Cape Cod Inc. is tasked with aligning and documenting the company's business practices and vision with both external and internal expectations for sustainability. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the management of a robust supply chain, employee relations, energy consumption, recycling, and critical resource management. The manager will be responsible for fostering a culture of sustainability within the organization, ensuring that sustainability metrics are integrated into commercial decision-making processes. A key aspect of this position involves developing a detailed strategic operational plan that incorporates sustainability initiatives across all departments. The manager will work to empower employees and promote a positive corporate climate that values sustainable business practices and ethics. Evaluating existing company processes to identify opportunities for more sustainable options will be a critical responsibility, as will providing guidance on sustainable practices and representing the organization at various forums and conferences. The Sustainability Initiatives Manager will also be responsible for the Annual Sustainability Report, communicating the impact of the company's activities on the environment and society, and outlining ongoing strategies and initiatives. This role requires collaboration with marketing to enhance corporate communication efforts around sustainability and to gather customer feedback through surveys and outreach. Additionally, the manager will create and manage a budget for sustainability-related expenses and lead efforts to obtain and maintain relevant sustainability certifications and accreditations, such as Eco Vadis.
Responsibilities

• Prepare the Annual Sustainability Report and communicate the impact of business activities on the environment and society.

• Outline ongoing strategy and supporting initiatives for sustainability.

• Increase employee engagement in sustainability efforts.

• Collaborate with marketing to enhance corporate communication around sustainability and gather customer feedback.

• Create and manage a budget for sustainability initiatives and related expenses.

• Lead efforts to obtain and maintain sustainability certifications and accreditations.
Requirements
• Experience working with diverse stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and local communities.

• Experience managing direct reports.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to identify areas of inefficiency or opportunity for maximizing sustainability in corporate practices.

• Critical thinking skills to solve problems and provide creative solutions.

• Basic knowledge of BET methods, manufacturing, ISO 13485, and cGMP.

• Knowledge of challenges in fisheries policy as it applies to horseshoe crabs.

• A combination of education and/or experience in BET manufacturing, environmental studies, marketing, statistics, sustainability, or related fields.

• Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience, or 10+ years in a related field.

• Experience presenting to and working with diverse groups to attain goals.

• Knowledge of licensed biologics manufacturing and regulatory guideline development.
