About the position

Prince William County is excited to announce the hiring of its first-ever Sustainability Data Analyst under the Office of Sustainability. This new full-time position is pivotal in supporting the implementation of the county's Community Energy and Sustainability Master Plan (CESMP). The CESMP is a comprehensive strategy aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, incorporating renewable energy sources, and enhancing the county's resilience to climate change impacts. The Sustainability Data Analyst will serve as a subject matter expert, responsible for developing and managing data systems that track progress towards the county's Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals. The incumbent will be tasked with creating a robust system to monitor greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy usage, and climate resiliency metrics associated with the actions outlined in the CESMP. This role will require collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure accurate data collection and reporting, ultimately contributing to the county's sustainability objectives. The position will operate under the direct supervision of the Office of Sustainability Director, ensuring alignment with the county's strategic goals. In addition to data management, the Sustainability Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing the environmental impacts of proposed land use projects and presenting complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner. This role is essential for driving the county's sustainability initiatives and ensuring that progress is measurable and transparent.

Responsibilities
• Develop and manage data systems to track progress towards Climate Mitigation and Resiliency goals.

• Present complex technical information in understandable terms.

• Coordinate reporting programs involving multiple agencies or organizations.

Requirements
• High school diploma or G.E.D. with 7 years of professional experience in sustainability programming.

• Experience in developing and managing data tracking systems related to greenhouse gas emissions.

• Ability to develop reports on programs' greenhouse gas and climate adaptation impacts.

• Experience with greenhouse gas data analysis and reporting.

• Holds a LEED Credential.

• Master's degree preferred.
