Job Description

Tetra Tech is hiring a Sustainability Consultant in Pasadena, CA, to work on climate and sustainability projects. The role involves conducting GHG emissions assessments, developing carbon strategies, advising on low-carbon technologies, and leading workshops. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 2–5 years of experience in the built environment, along with skills in sustainability data analysis and knowledge of environmental regulations.
About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful climate and sustainability projects across both public and private sectors. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team to develop practical solutions focused on climate action, efficient resource use, and biodiversity conservation. Key responsibilities may include:
• Conducting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions assessments, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and whole life cycle (WLC) analyses, along with ongoing data validation and management.
• Creating carbon and sustainability strategies for clients, including Net Zero Carbon pathways and setting Science-Based Targets.
• Providing expert advice on low-carbon and renewable energy technologies within the built environment.
• Supporting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of products and infrastructure components.
• Leading sustainability-focused workshops for both design and non-design-related projects.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams within RPS to deliver sustainability insights and guidance.

Qualifications
• A Level 8 honours degree (or equivalent) in a science or engineering discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience, preferably in the built environment sector.
• Membership or active pursuit of membership in a relevant professional institution (e.g., IEMA, ICRS) is considered an advantage.

Experience and Skills Required
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with engineering teams to propose low-carbon design alternatives.
• In-depth knowledge of Irish and European climate, energy, and environmental regulations and policy.
• Proficiency in conducting carbon and energy assessments using frameworks such as the GHG Protocol or PAS 2080:2023 and tools like OneClick LCA.
• Skilled in collecting and analyzing sustainability data related to carbon, circular economy, biodiversity, and social value for corporate reporting.
• Familiarity with sustainable procurement and integrating sustainability metrics into contract management.
• Understanding of environmental certifications and best practices in the built environment (e.g., BREEAM, BREEAM Infrastructure).
• Strong report writing and technical documentation abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
