Job Description

LaunchX is seeking a Sustainability Associate Director for Morocco, based in Mission, KS. This leadership role involves driving sustainability projects, shaping strategies, and managing teams to support businesses in their ESG transitions. The candidate should have 10-12 years of experience in sustainability or strategy consulting and a relevant master's degree. Responsibilities include business development, project execution, team management, and representing LaunchX in high-level forums.

Our Sustainability Consulting Practice supports high-growth businesses and institutions in navigating the complex ESG landscape—unlocking strategic value through sustainable business model design, innovative corporate solutions and data-driven impact measurement.

As an Associate Director, you will play a key leadership role in structuring, delivering, and scaling sustainability projects with both strategic depth and operational excellence. You will drive high-impact engagements, shape the go-to-market approach, lead multidisciplinary teams, and support clients in embedding sustainability at the heart of their core strategy, operations, and innovation roadmaps.

You will also contribute to Launch

X’s broader venture-building mission by aligning ESG expertise with business acceleration levers thus helping shape a new generation of climate-resilient and sustainability-driven ventures across Morocco and Africa.

Mission (Purpose of the Role)

To lead the strategic and operational development of Launch

X’s sustainability practice, positioning the firm as a key partner in supporting Moroccan and African corporates through their ESG and sustainability innovation and transitions. This role is instrumental in translating ESG ambitions into actionable strategies and high-impact ventures and projects.

Key Responsibilities
• Business Development & Go-to-Market
• Drive the growth strategy for the sustainability practice in alignment with Launch

X’s core offerings.
• Identify strategic opportunities, particularly with clients seeking business model transformation through innovation and sustainability.
• Lead the structuring of tailored proposals (diagnostics, ESG roadmaps, sustainability strategy).
• Ensure alignment with Launch

X’s market positioning and value proposition roadmaps.
• Business Development & Go-to-Market
• Oversee the execution of complex, high-impact consulting projects.
• Ensure quality, rigor, and client satisfaction across deliverables.
• Intervene in high-stakes client meetings and provide thought leadership on ESG topics.
• Team Management & Knowledge Development
• Lead and mentor a team of consultants and analysts within the Sustainability practice.
• Contribute to internal capability building: tools, frameworks, methodologies.
• Promote a performance-driven and collaborative culture.
• Ecosystem development and leadership
• Represent Launch

X in high-level forums, conferences, or industry coalitions.
• Develop partnerships with institutions, think tanks, or technical players (ESG tools, platforms).
• Publish content and insights on sustainability trends, regulations, and innovations.

Ideal Candidate Profile
• Education
• Master’s degree from a top-tier business school, engineering school, or university.
• Specialization or certification in sustainability, ESG, or responsible finance is a plus.
• Experience
• 10 to 12 years of experience in sustainability or strategy consulting.
• Alternatively: 10+ years at a major industrial player in a strategic ESG-related role, with consulting mindset and proven delivery track.
• Demonstrated ability to structure offers, lead teams, and manage complex engagements.
• Technical & Soft Skills
• Deep understanding of ESG frameworks and regulatory landscape (CSRD, GRI, SFDR, Taxonomy, ISO standards, etc.).
• Strong leadership, business acumen, and storytelling skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication in French and English.
• Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Volume and strategic relevance of projects signed and delivered.
• Client satisfaction.
• Leadership contributions (tools, frameworks, publications).
• Ecosystem partnerships initiated or structured.
• Location & Reporting
• Based in Casablanca, with occasional travel across Morocco and Africa.
• Reports to the Director of Sustainability Practice.
