Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Sustainability Analyst at our Corporate office in Richmond, VA. This position will be a part of Carpenter Co.'s technical Sustainability & Circularity team, taking part in internal projects aimed at creating a world-class sustainability program within Carpenter.

As the successful candidate, you will work collaboratively on a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate Carpenter's environmental footprint and facilitate operational management tracking.
Your additional responsibilities as Sustainability Analyst will include:
• Work collaboratively with technology, commercial, and operations teams to collect and analyze environmental mass and energy data company-wide, identify gaps in sustainable practices, and communicate results internally and externally.
• Manage upkeep and maintenance of a sustainability management system, including data and policy management.
• Interface with site-level support functions to collect sustainability-focused utility, production, compliance, and operational data and ensure data quality to address customer inquiries, regulatory requirements, and support corporate sustainability initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal and internal resources to perform data analysis & visualization and develop dashboard overviews of Carpenter site-level sustainability performance.
• Support continual improvement of site performance with regards to efficient utility & material consumption and waste minimization.
• Manage data collection and reporting associated with lifecycle assessments and environmental product declarations of Carpenter products.
• Collaborate with Compliance and Product Stewardship teams to share data in support of product documentation and inform strategy.
• Contribute to the selection, implementation, and maintenance of sustainability metric tracking & databasing software.
• Keep up to date on industry and market trends in sustainability.
• Support the enablement of the Sales team with documentation and marketing materials for Carpenter products.
• Network across sales and support functions to field sustainability inquiries and coordinate methods & messaging in both the United States and EMEA/APAC regions.
Skills/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Business
• 1+ years' experience in business professional environment, with a preference towards manufacturing and/or sustainability-oriented roles or organizations
• Knowledge of sustainability principles, carbon footprint and Life Cycle Analysis technical concepts, and industry certifications such as LEED is preferred
• Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze consistently formatted and organized data. Create data visualizations and communicate findings with teammates and management. Support and maintain data quality.
• Familiarity with concepts of sustainability in business practice, maintain working knowledge of trends in sustainability; in international industry and regulatory spheres.
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions.
• Strong communications skills across all levels of the organization.
• Willingness to pursue training and development opportunities while also educating others on Sustainability topics.
• Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and a willingness to make decisions.
