Ashland Inc. is seeking a Sustainability & Environmental Center of Excellence (COE) Leader to join their EHS&S team. This remote position requires 7–10 years of experience in sustainability and ESG management, expertise in environmental regulations, and familiarity with ISO 14001 and Eco Vadis. The role involves preparing for audits, developing compliance protocols, and guiding leaders on legislative requirements, with domestic and international travel up to 40%.

Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability & Environmental Center of Excellence (COE) Leader to join our Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) team at Ashland LLC. This is a highly visible, significant role within the Company and the Global EHS&S Leadership Team.
This position will report to the Global Director for EHS&S. Integrate science-based targets and leverage frameworks like ISO 14001 and Eco Vadis to ensure ambitious and achievable sustainability goals.
Prepare facilities for audits and inspections, develop compliance protocols, and guide site and functional leaders on legislative requirements.
• * In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
• * At least 7–10 years of experience in sustainability, ESG management, or related industry roles, with deep knowledge of GHG Protocol, CDP, and GRI. Proven experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Expertise in air, water, and waste regulations with experience in international regulations.
Direct experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and Eco Vadis assessments.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and hands-on experience with HSE data systems and digital reporting platforms.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills for internal and external presentations. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time, including visits to manufacturing sites, stakeholder meetings, and industry conferences. Advanced degrees or certifications in sustainability or environmental management.
Experience with science-based targets and current ESG frameworks. Familiarity with Eco Vadis and other sustainability assessment platforms.
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a global environment. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing corporate-level sustainability initiatives.
Experience with digital reporting and environmental data management systems.
