The Opportunity:
McElhanney Ltd. is looking for a Survey Assistant to join our team in Canmore. The successful candidate will be working on a wide variety of projects throughout the Bow Valley (Banff, Canmore, Exshaw) and beyond, providing survey services for land development and construction. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual who enjoys working in the great outdoors, looking to gain hands on surveying experience with the latest survey technology. Reporting to a Field Supervisor or Party Chief, you will aid the survey team in the timely and efficient completion of surveys and assignments.
What You Can Expect:
• Competitive salary, including overtime.
• Typical work week is Monday to Friday, daily hours are typically between 6 and 12 hours and fluctuate depending on seasonal workload
• Typical Monday to Friday work weeks

• Hands on training and individual mentoring, learn innovative survey solutions, utilize the latest and greatest survey technology, and can put all your training to work and grow your career.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Participate and contribute to McElhanney’s Heath, Safety and Environment (HSE) program.
• Attend and participate in McElhanney’s monthly field safety meetings.
• Attend and complete all required onboarding orientations, safety training and meet or exceed all the required elements for certification.
• Participate and contribute to the daily HSE Safe and Quality Production (SQP) plan and attend all morning toolbox safety meetings.
• Follow instructions as received from your Field Supervisor or Party Chief to assist in daily survey tasks..
• Set-up and operation of conventional survey and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment.
• Learn to prepare accurate field notes, as required.
• Clean and maintain survey equipment (including company vehicle), maintain supplies, stock company vehicle, and charge all electronic survey equipment daily or as instructed.
Salary Range: $19 to $28 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
What You’ll Bring
• High school diploma, technical school education
• Physically fit and able to work in varied environments rain, snow, or shine.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to occasionally travel out of town.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, and general computer knowledge.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol and fitness for work testing is required.
This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.
