Job Description
NV Energy is offering a Student Intern - Energy Analyst position in Reno, NV, for full-time students studying related fields. The internship provides practical experience in the energy industry, focusing on load research and regulatory support. Candidates should be self-starters with strong communication skills. The role requires a commitment of 12-20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours in the summer, with compensation ranging from $18.00 to $22.50 per hour.
Responsibilities
Join the largest energy provider in the state of Nevada and learn about the Power Utility Industry while you complete your degree. NV Energy is part of the Berkshire Hathaway Energy global family of companies and has been serving the people of Nevada for over 150 years.
An immediate internship opportunity with a minimum semester (to potential year-round) commitment is available in Reno for full time students studying Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Finance, or Accounting.
The NV Energy Internship program is designed to ensure that it will challenge students with meaningful work, expose them to a career in the energy industry, and help them transition from academics to the workforce. Successful completion of an intern position can put a student on the fast track to a full-time career with NV Energy, following graduation.
The goal of our internship program is designed to combine the theoretical training and practical experience to ensure that students obtain meaningful work experience. Candidate must be a self-starter, flexible, a quick learner, highly motivated and a good team player. Accordingly, you must possess strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Successful students can build upon their existing skills and explore valuable careers in a variety of areas such as Electric Utility Rates, load Research and load Forecasting Analytics.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
• Assist in creating and maintaining models to describe and analyze historical and forecast usage date in support of regulatory filings made with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.
• Works as part of a team to complete load research project deliverables for internal and external stakeholder requests.
• Participate in special projects and regulatory team assignments as requested.
• Comply with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Other duties may be assigned
All students must attach transcripts and verification of college/university enrollment at the time of application in order to begin or continue employment.
All students must be available to work the following schedule:
• School Year: minimum of 12 up to a maximum of 20 hours per week
• Summer a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Requirements
Education and Work Experience
Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelors of Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Accounting, Finance, or Renewable Energy program with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75. Must be a full time student with a minimum load of 12 units. Previous work experience is preferred but not required.
All students must attach transcripts and verification of college/university enrollment at the time of application in order to begin or continue employment.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel
Equipment and Applications
PCs, Word processing, Spreadsheet and Database software
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required. May be required to travel to field locations and job sites and walk on uneven/unpaved ground
Compensation
$18.00 to $22.50 per hour. This is a non-represented position.
