Job Description

The City of Henderson is hiring a part-time Student Assistant for the Department of Redevelopment. Candidates must be enrolled in relevant academic programs and possess skills in Microsoft Office. Responsibilities include assisting with departmental functions. Applicants must be available for in-person assessments in Henderson, NV. Required documents include an application, resume, proof of enrollment, and a portfolio. The position may involve background checks and certifications.
The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Student Assistant (Part-Time) in the Department of Redevelopment. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty assisting with the routine function of the department to which assigned.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Economics, Communications, Real Estate, Public Administration, or Business program. This candidate should be able to utilize Microsoft Office programs and collaborate with team members on a variety of Redevelopment projects.

• Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, vocational or technical school in an academic area related to the work performed by the department to which assigned.
• May be required to pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
• May be required to complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment

This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
