Job Purpose: This role is focused on combining expertise in Structural Engineering with a passion for wood design to create innovative, functional, and sustainable structures. As a key contributor to our multi-disciplinary team, the successful candidate will design, analyze, and oversee the development of wood and mixed-material projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards and client goals. From concept through construction administration, this role provides technical leadership, fostering collaboration among architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver high-quality public, commercial, and multi-use buildings. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university OR equivalent wood design experience in the construction field. Familiarity with local building codes and regulations. Strong understanding of wood properties, load-bearing capacities, and construction techniques. Proficiency in industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools. Skills/Qualities: Above average attention to detail Proactive and assertive in problem solving Experience managing parallel assignments Good written, oral communications, staff management and client relationship skills Concern for the exact correctness of work Strong work ethic and a drive to exceed client expectations A desire to grow professionally and work toward licensure Experience in healthcare related projects a plus Somewhat faster than average pace of work strongly desired Responsibilities: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to design and develop wood structures for public, commercial, and multi-use buildings. Create structural construction drawings and specifications, incorporating accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Work on projects that involve not only wood but also structural steel, concrete, and masonry structures. Contribute to the design and analysis of innovative solutions for various construction projects. Participate in project meetings, providing technical expertise and insights. Carry a project through construction administration, reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and performing site visits.
