Job Description
Dorman Products seeks a Strategic Sourcing Manager in Madison, IN, responsible for developing global supply chain strategies and managing a team of 1-4 procurement professionals. Key duties include leading supplier and category strategies, managing the procurement cycle, mitigating supply risks, and achieving cost reduction objectives. The role requires strong negotiation skills, experience in contract management, and the ability to collaborate across functions to support new product development and supply chain goals.
Job Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing global supply chain strategies that deliver industry-leading innovation, speed-to-market, product quality, and delivery performance at the lowest total cost of ownership. This individual will manage a team of 1-4 procurement professionals responsible for supporting new product development along with driving cost out of the Company year over year.
Primary Duties
• Lead the creation and harmonization of Supplier and Category Strategies that defines the “Future State” supply base that will optimally support SuperATV’s objectives for innovation, speed-to-market, quality and total cost of ownership.
• Lead a team of 1-4 procurement professionals’ contributors executing the tactical day to day activities to support executing the global sourcing strategy for assigned categories.
• Lead the full procurement cycle from Ideation through savings realization to achieve targeted cost reductions and strengthening of the supply chain, including but not limited to: Supplier contract negotiation and administration, supplier development, sourcing activities, negotiations of terms and conditions, and issue resolution with solutions. May engage in supplier relationship management; regulatory compliance, and risk management activities to support buying team and supply chain goals.
• Identify and monitor potential supply risks and proactively develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead sourcing projects to Partner with Product Management and Engineering teams to facilitate the rapid introduction of new products and new customer programs.
• Develop, execute and manage supplier contracts and agreements.
• Achieve YoY assigned productivity and cost reduction objectives.
• Monitor market indexes and ensure acquisition costs are in line with market trends.
• Monitor the new product wish list to simultaneously deploy strategies, achieve YoY performance improvements and support NPI/Growth initiatives.
• Maintain awareness of world markets and emerging material related issues in the industry and position the supply chain to flexibly respond accordingly.
• Demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with other functions and suppliers to solve issues of varying degrees of complexity. Communicates with stakeholders across the organization to ensure customer and program requirements are met through the procurement process.
Qualifications
• Hands-on experience supporting new product development projects, qualifying suppliers, qualifying products/components, verifying suppliers manufacturing readiness and ramping up volume production in low-cost regions.
• Experience in contract management, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation.
• Excellent knowledge of procurement best practices, market trends, and sourcing strategies
• Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement and collaboration.
• Proven analytical, problem solving, and decision- making skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong written and oral communications skills - including executive presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional global teams in a dynamic work environment Excellent computer skill – particularly Microsoft Office applications.
• Willingness to travel 5-10%
Education / Experience
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a concentration in one or more of the following disciplines: Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Business.
• 5+ years’ experience as a procurement professional
• MBA is preferred.
• APICS certification is preferred.
