Stormwater Inspector (SWPPP)

My client is seeking a detail-oriented Stormwater Inspector to join our team in ensuring the highest quality standards on construction sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with contracts and specifications. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of construction projects and requires a strong understanding of quality control processes.

Stormwater Inspector Responsibilities:
• Perform routine and storm-triggered inspections on active construction sites to ensure adherence to SWPPP and stormwater compliance standards
• Document site observations through detailed inspection reports, activity logs, and photo documentation
• Review stormwater management plans and assess the effectiveness of proposed BMPs, suggesting site-specific alternatives when appropriate
• Communicate inspection results and recommended corrective measures to contractors and field personnel to support timely compliance
• Monitor regional rainfall data and generate estimates for inspection service needs based on weather conditions
• Support project teams by participating in coordination calls, site meetings, and compliance discussions
• Maintain accurate records of inspections and compliance activities in accordance with the required three-year retention policy
• Identify and escalate potential violations of local, state, and federal stormwater regulations to project stakeholders
• Prepare and revise SWPPP documentation as needed, including drafting and filing Notices of Intent and Notices of Termination per regulatory guidelines
• Travel as needed across Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania to support inspection activities at various project locations
• Follow all safety protocols outlined by the client while providing technical support on environmental compliance issues

Stormwater Inspector Qualifications:
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience conducting SWPPP inspections on active construction sites
• Strong understanding of federal (EPA NPDES CGP) and state stormwater regulations, including Indiana (IDEM INRA00000) and Ohio (OEPA OHC000007); knowledge of surrounding state requirements is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply stormwater regulations and Best Management Practices (BMPs) in the field
• Possession of relevant stormwater certifications such as CPESC or CISEC
• Valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel frequently across Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
