About the position
Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Staff Geologist / Hydrogeologist to join our environmental practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your geologic and environmental science skills to a variety of projects, including contaminated site assessment and remediation, mining, construction management, and environmental compliance. As a Staff Geologist / Hydrogeologist, you will also be involved in proposal and report preparation, which will help you develop the business skills necessary for a successful consulting career. In this role, you will be responsible for data analysis and visualization of site investigation data, which includes preparing tables, maps, and figures using both industry-standard and cutting-edge applications. You will also prepare written documents such as proposals, work plans, and investigative reports, and assist with business development activities. Your work will involve environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting, as well as monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects. Fieldwork will be a significant part of your responsibilities, including site investigation and characterization, drilling and contractor oversight, core logging, and geologic mapping. Additionally, you will conduct remedy evaluations, cost estimating, and support remedial implementation.
Responsibilities
• Data analysis and visualization of site investigation data, including preparation of tables, maps, and figures.

• Preparation of written documents such as proposals, work plans, and investigative reports.

• Assisting with business development activities.
,
• Conducting environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting.

• Monitoring and oversight of site remediation and environmental construction projects.
,
• Field work, site investigation, and characterization, including hardrock, sediment, soil, surface water, air monitoring, and groundwater sampling.
,
• Drilling and contractor oversight, core logging, and geologic mapping.
,
• Conducting remedy evaluation, cost estimating, and supporting remedial implementation.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, or geochemistry (required).
,
• At least 2 years of related experience with planning and implementing environmental or geologic field projects or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
,
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment (preferred).
,
• Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment (preferred).
,
• Experience with mine-related facilities and earthen structures (preferred).
,
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS (preferred).
,
• Excellent writing and communication skills (required).
,
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing (required).
,
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).
Nice-to-haves
• Advanced degree in geology, environmental science, or geochemistry (valuable).

• Nevada Certified Environmental Manager (CEM), Geologist in Training (GIT) certification (valuable).

• Internship(s), co-op position, or prior work experience relevant to the position (preferred).
