ERM is seeking a motivated entry-level Consulting Associate to join the world’s largest pure play environmental and sustainability consulting firm in the Philadelphia, PA area. This role would provide the opportunity to support globally recognized Subject Matter Experts and Project Managers as we partner with our clients across the full spectrum of ERM’s services, including EHS management systems and compliance, air quality, contaminated site management, sustainability, renewable energy, capital project delivery and due diligence transaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical assistance on environmental compliance, storm water, wastewater, air quality management, site investigation and remediation, waste management, and due diligence transaction projects.
• Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater programs.
• Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct air quality analyses, prepare emission inventory reports, quantify air pollutant emissions and impacts, and evaluate air pollution control technologies.
• Perform Phase I environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions.
• Conduct field work, including sampling, ecological field studies, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
• Provide general environmental compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance, as needed.
• Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
• Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
• Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively execute projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
• BS in engineering (chemical engineering is preferred but other engineering degrees will be considered). BS or MS in Environmental Engineering will be considered.
• A demonstrated focus on environment or sustainability through coursework, research projects and internships, is required.
• Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
• Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.
• Detail-oriented with mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Travel up to 50% or more, locally and regionally, will be required to support client field work. Travel schedules may vary from month to month based on client need.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or similar path to PE highly preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• HAZWOPER certification a plus.
• This role will require onsite local client engagements and in-office events through our hybrid working environment. Local candidates are required.

For the Staff Environmental Consultant position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $56,647 to $62,682 . An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
