Environmental Research Group (ERG) is offering two full-time, mid-senior archaeologist positions to engage in project work in Oklahoma, the Mid-Atlantic, South, and across the country. ERG is a virtual-work-friendly organization. Candidates based in/around our brick-and-mortar office locations in the greater Charlotte, NC area and within driving distance of Norman, OK are preferred. Candidates in VA and MD will also be considered.

As a Staff Archaeologist, you would be expected to manage and run field projects (including travel for 1 - 4 weeks at a time), write reports, peer review, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with a team.
The Ideal Candidate Will Meet/Exceed the Following Qualifications
• Education
• Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field.
• Professional Experience
• 5 years of experience in archaeological field projects in a cultural resource management (CRM) environment (leading crews, report writing, client communication)
• Conducting/Directing Phase Ia/b field surveys Phase II testing projects and archaeological monitoring during construction.
• Making significant writing contributions to regulatory coordination and reports
• Experience with artifact analysis, geophysical remote sensing, and/or other specialties a plus
• Regulatory and Permitting Proficiency
• Working knowledge of relevant federal and state cultural and environmental resource regulations (Section 106, NEPA, Guidelines for Archaeological investigations in various states across the Midwest and Southeast, etc.)
• OK candidate must have familiarity with Texas and/or Oklahoma transportation cultural resource protocols and systems (TxDOT, ODOT, transit districts, etc.; preferred)
• Professional Skills
• Detail-oriented, strong communication, data collection & analysis skills
• GIS-based field data collection, analysis, and reporting
• Metal detection skills preferred
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, including as a team leader
• Time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work outdoors in remote locations under various conditions (physical stamina required)
• Additional Requirements
• Valid driver's license
• S. Citizenship
• Ability to pass security clearances and background checks
Salary ranges from $65-80,000, commensurate with experience. Bonuses are offered for exceptional performance. Benefits package includes health insurance, paid holiday and vacation, and a 401(k) plan with employer contribution regardless of employee contribution. A relocation stipend may be considered.
