Job Description

The Sr Project Engineer (Solar/Renewables) at New Jersey Resources will manage project plans for clean energy initiatives, including solar and wind projects. Responsibilities include overseeing construction, managing EPC agreements, leading a team, and coordinating procurement processes. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 7-10 years of experience in engineering and construction teams. This position is based in Wall Township, NJ and is not remote.
About the position

As a Senior Project Engineer at NJR Clean Energy Ventures, you will play a pivotal role in managing project plans for various clean energy initiatives, including solar, wind, and combined heat and power (CHP) projects. Your responsibilities will encompass the execution of engineering and construction requests for proposals (RFPs), as well as overseeing the construction and implementation of commercial projects ranging from 2 megawatts (MW) to 150 MW, with budgets reaching up to $150 million. You will be tasked with developing and implementing program standards while also overseeing major Operations and Maintenance (O&M) outages and managing wind assets. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) teams, landlords, and tenants to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will lead a team of technical and project management professionals, coordinating the negotiation and documentation of EPC agreements across all clean energy platforms. Your expertise will be crucial in managing procurement processes, reviewing and approving electrical and construction engineering plans, and overseeing the commissioning testing program, construction permitting, and interconnection processes. Additionally, you will handle landowner issues at various project sites and assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior management. Maintaining effective internal and external contacts will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities
• Oversee construction with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC), landlord and tenants to ensure completion on time and within budget for projects ranging from 2MW to 150MW, up to $150 million dollars.

• Manage and coordinate negotiation and documentation of EPC agreements for all clean energy platforms.

• Lead a team of technical and project management professionals in the construction of various clean energy platforms.

• Manage procurement (if any) to ensure timely completion within budget.

• Oversee the review and approval of electrical and construction engineering plans.

• Oversee the implementation of major O&M outages for various Clean Energy Ventures.

• Develop and approve commissioning test plans.
,
• Oversee commissioning testing program, construction permitting and interconnection process.

• Manage all landowner issues at the various project sites.

• Assist with the preparation of various reports and presentations for senior NJR management.

• Maintain effective internal and external contacts.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (mechanical, electrical or civil preferred)

• Minimum of 7-10 years' experience working with and leading various engineering and construction teams
,
• Experience in working on solar and energy project implementations
,
• Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional Certification preferred
,
• MS Office proficiency and effective communication skills
