About the position
The Sr Interior Design Professional will join HOK's Sports + Recreation + Entertainment team, responsible for executing complex interior design assignments. This role involves collaborating with project teams to ensure timely completion of project phases, selecting and specifying interior materials, and developing innovative design concepts that align with client goals and budgets. The position also includes conducting programming efforts, preparing design presentations, and ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
• Perform complex interior design assignments with specific instructions and expected results.
,
• Keep projects or project phases on schedule.
,
• Select and specify all interior architectural materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and artwork.
,
• Develop innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and budget-conscious.
,
• Conduct programming efforts such as space planning and layout.
,
• Coordinate color and material palettes for projects.
,
• Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
,
• Render conceptual design ideas and prepare 2D and 3D presentation drawings.
,
• Prepare and conduct client presentations.
,
• Update documents during schematic design and design development phases.
,
• Solicit bids and assist Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication and installation.
,
• Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
,
• Implement and utilize HOK Standards for all projects and processes.
,
• Support team members in specific areas of interior design expertise.
,
• Mentor and direct less experienced staff and conduct performance evaluations.
,
• Participate in interviews and recruiting of professional staff.
,
• Foster a green workplace through sustainable practices.
,
• Commit to excellent client service.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in interior design or foreign equivalent.
,
• 3+ years of experience in interior design or equivalent education and experience.
,
• Creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills.
,
• Advanced space planning skills and interest in programming.
,
• Knowledge of design trends, construction methodology, and materials application.
,
• Advanced knowledge of FF&E, architectural/interior finishes, lighting, and color.
,
• Knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.
,
• Proficiency in technical design tools and principles for producing plans and models.
,
• Advanced knowledge of sustainability and LEED guidelines.
,
• Familiarity with buildingSMART, BIM, and Integrated Project Delivery.
,
• Proficiency in 3D Modeling software (Revit, Sketchup, Lumion, Enscape, TwinMotion, Rhino preferred).
,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Affinity software suite preferred.
,
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
,
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
,
• Ability to work in a team environment.
