About the position

The Senior Environmental Specialist at Targa Resources Corp. plays a crucial role in supporting environmental compliance and sustainability practices for gas plants and associated gathering systems in North Dakota. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to changing regulations and operational needs. The specialist will work closely with management and operations teams to ensure adherence to environmental regulations and corporate policies, while also assisting in the implementation of environmental programs.

Responsibilities
• Assist management, operations, and project/maintenance teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

• Organize, plan, implement, and audit environmental programs and policies for operations.
,
• Ensure compliance with Title V operating permits and New Source Review permits, including preparation of reports.
,
• Review projects for environmental impacts and document necessary information for permitting processes.
,
• Gather data and facilitate reporting under various regulations including CERCLA, EPCRA, and SARA.
,
• Assist with waste and remediation activities, ensuring compliance with waste management plans.
,
• Ensure compliance with SPCC requirements and assist with spill response and remediation activities.
,
• Act as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and operations regarding reports and inspections.
,
• Assist with compliance audits and facilitate resolution of action items from findings.
,
• Maintain knowledge of existing and proposed environmental regulations impacting the area.
,
• Communicate updates on environmental releases and permit deviations to supervisor.
,
• Implement and maintain effective management of operational data for compliance.

Requirements
• Minimum of four years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
,
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field; or 8-10 years of related experience without a degree.

• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
,
• Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
,
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
,
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
,
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to interface with teams and regulators.

• Ability to work self-sufficiently with direction and resources.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Intermediate desktop computer skills using Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves
• 4+ years of experience in air quality compliance for the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

• Minimum of six years of relevant experience without a bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
