Job Description
Clark Dietz is seeking a Sr. Engineer/Project Manager in Electrical Engineering for their Chicago or Champaign offices. The role involves managing MEP engineering projects, providing technical guidance, and supporting business development. Candidates should have a B.S. in Electrical/Architectural Engineering, a PE license, and 10+ years of consulting experience. Strong project management skills and knowledge of electrical codes are required. Travel to client sites is necessary.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to join our IL MEP Team based out of our Chicago or Champaign offices. The MEP Team provides architectural engineering services for public sector clients with planning and design of electrical systems for variety of buildings and municipal facilities including public safety, higher education, industrial and water & wastewater treatment plants. This role manages projects, provides technical guidance and assists with business development for the team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provides leadership and project management for MEP engineering projects and is accountable for project performance, technical quality and deliverables.
• Assigns project tasks and provides guidance and mentoring to other staff.
• Leads or assists with the development of project scope, budget and schedule and any subsequent fee negotiations or contract amendments.
• Collaborates with other in-house engineering teams (Mechanical, Civil, and Structural) on projects requiring MEP design services.
• Monitors task assignments and deadlines and ensures QC/QA processes are implemented and followed for assigned projects.
• Actively supports the development of MEP staff through task assignments and mentoring.
• Assists the Area Manager with billing, monitoring project performance, workload forecasting, staff utilization and other administrative tasks.
• Collaborates on project pursuits with the Area Manager and develops relationships with existing clients and prospects
• Active participation with pertinent technical and trade associations.
Position Requirements
• B.S. degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering and Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license are required.
• 10+ years of experience as a consulting engineer with a focus on facility design, power systems, low voltage systems and lighting design is desired.
• Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards for medium and low voltage designs.
• Demonstrated project management experience including development of scope, schedule, and budget with accountability for project financial performance.
• Proficient or knowledgeable with the capabilities of the following design and modeling tools: Revit, SKM PowerTools, Lighting Design software (AGI-32 or others), MS Office.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or other ERP systems is desirable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to make client presentations and develop/edit reports.
• A valid driver's license is required with the ability to travel to client or project sites as needed.
